The Rector of Undana Describes Menwa as a Breeding Ground for National Leaders

KUPANG – The Rector of Nusa Cendana University (Undana), Prof. Dr. drh. Maxs U. E. Sanam, M.Sc, stated that the student regiment (Menwa) serves as a breeding ground for national leaders. This is because, in addition to being students pursuing higher education, Menwa members also learn to enhance their character, discipline, leadership, responsibility, and other soft skills.

This was expressed by the Rector of Undana, Prof. Maxs Sanam, during his role as a speaker at the National Seminar organized by the Indonesian Student Regiment Alumni Association (IARMI) at the Sudirman Hall of the Wira Sakti 161 Military Command in Kupang on Thursday, November 9, 2023.

The Rector of Undana also mentioned that through rigorous training and exercises, students can sharpen their abilities to face challenges and make informed decisions.

"The student regiment can also be a platform for developing inclusive and globally aware leadership skills. In Menwa, students from various backgrounds can work together, appreciate differences, and learn about cultural diversity," explained Prof. Maxs Sanam.

This, he continued, will help them become leaders who can communicate effectively, understand different perspectives, and make wise decisions in an increasingly complex local and global context.

Undana Rector, Prof. Maxs Sanam, took a group photo with the Commander of the 161/WS Kupang along with the staff, IARMI NTT, school principals, and students who won the bulletin board competition.

"Through this program, students can develop leadership, nationalism, soft skills, and global perspectives that will be valuable assets in advancing the nation and facing future challenges," he added.

The Rector of Undana also hopes that the student regiment continues to be strengthened and supported to provide greater benefits to the university and the community.

In addition to the Rector of Undana, one of the speakers who provided material was the Commander of the 161/WS Kupang, Brigadier General TNI Febriel Buyung Sikumbang, SH., MM.

Present at that time were invited guests, including TNI officers from the three branches, namely Kasi Pers Korem 161/Wira Sakti Kupang, Colonel Inf Yudiono, Aspotmar Lantamal VII Kupang, Colonel Laut Jonie Efendi, Letkol PNB Eddy Candra as the Pekas TNI U El Tari Kupang, Danramil Kupang, Mayor Hendry Dunant, Chairman of DPP IARMI NTT Fahmi Abdullah, Chairman of IARMI DPK Kota and Kabupaten Kupang, Stenly A.
