KUPANG – The academic community of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Nusa Cendana University (Undana) has a commendable achievement. This is because, over the consecutive span of 2 years, students from the Management Program who are part of the team Renew Crafter have successfully obtained funding from the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (Program Pembinaan Mahasiswa Wirausaha or P2MW) and, at the same time, are representing Undana in the 14th Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Expo (Expo Kewirausahaan Mahasiswa Indonesia or KMI XIV).
The event took place at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) in Singaraja, Bali, spanning 3 days from November 15 to 17, 2023.
The implementation of this activity is an annual event and the pinnacle of the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW), showcasing outstanding products from students across Indonesia.
The participation of the Management Program in this event is due to their selection in the Undana-level competition, where 5 groups took part in the selection process.
The Renew Crafter team, guided by FEB lecturer Mrs. Clarce S. Maak, S.Si., MM, brought their main product made from plastic waste to the event. They transformed discarded bottles into economically valuable items such as bags, flower pots, and lanterns.
The creativity, uniqueness, and innovation of this group are what enabled them to qualify for the event. The team is composed of 5 students: Teresita Noviyanti Bere as the team leader, along with members Maria Asdiana Hudi, Stefani Inge Inggriati Tuan, Maria Choncita Y. Nahas, and Rolan Ruben Ngeu.
Dr. Rolland E. Fanggidae, S.Si., MM, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at FEB Undana and also the team supervisor, explained that this is the second time FEB, particularly the Management Program, has brought honor to Undana by participating in the P2MW entrepreneurship event and having the opportunity to join the KMI Expo.
"This indicates that the entrepreneurship course has had a positive impact, where entrepreneurial spirit can flourish and inspire students to compete and innovate in developing products that are not only economically valuable but also environmentally friendly," said the Vice Dean I of FEB.
He also explained that in this Expo, the Renew Crafter team not only showcased their main product but also brought additional products from the other 4 groups, namely, Motif Accessories from Weaving, decorative flowers made from plastic bags, printed motif t-shirts, and beverage products from Saboak.
With the qualification of the Management Program team for the P2MW event and the KMI Expo, Dr. Rolland hopes that it serves as a stimulus for other groups or teams at Undana, especially those interested in entrepreneurship, to join and compete together in the coming years.
"This is to bring the name of Undana and introduce, as well as promote, the creativity of young entrepreneurs from East Nusa Tenggara," concluded Dr. Rolland. (CSM/)
