The first intake of students for the Master's program in Civil Engineering, Vice Rector II: Maintain Undana's Reputation

KUPANG - The Master's Program in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FST), Nusa Cendana University (Undana), has, for the first time, conducted admissions for new students for the academic year 2023/2024 since receiving approval from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, a few months ago.

A total of 25 new students were admitted to the Master's Program in Civil Engineering during the admission event held at the Postgraduate Building Auditorium of Undana on Monday, September 4th, 2023.

The admission process was marked by the presentation of alma mater jackets by Deputy Rector II for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Paul G. Tamelan, M.Si, and the distribution of participant badges by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Prof.. Philiphi de Rozari, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D

Vice Rector II of Undana, Dr. Paul Tamelan, welcomed the 25 new students of the Master's Program in Civil Engineering in his speech. He expressed his hope that the students would uphold Undana's reputation by supporting each other throughout their academic journey. Dr. Paul emphasized that with mutual support, students could achieve higher GPAs and complete their studies within the designated 2-year timeframe. Conversely, he discouraged students from extending their studies beyond 2 years.

Undana's Vice Rector II assured that if students could complete their studies on time, it would support the accreditation process of the program. This, of course, would serve as a positive example for future generations of students.

Undana's Vice Rector II, Dr. Paul Tamelan, is seen here presenting alma mater jackets to two new Master's in Civil Engineering students, with Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FST), Prof. Philiphi de Rozari, on the left.

He added that currently, academic services are conducted online, so students must actively fill out their Academic Transcript (KHS) and Course Registration (KRS) online. Failure to do so could affect their diploma numbers in the future.

"To ensure that Undana's reputation is well-maintained, new students should serve as role models for future students who wish to continue their studies at Undana. Thank you for the support from both students and faculty," he concluded.

Dean of FST, Prof. . Philiphi de Rozari, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., also welcomed the new students to become partners for approximately 2 years. He admitted that the Master's in Civil Engineering program is newly established and currently holds a B accreditation. Nevertheless, the university is continuously working to enhance the quality of education. Undana is currently undergoing a transformation towards improvement, including raising program accreditations.

"The enhancement of competence is the key focus, and we also pay attention to the outcomes. Therefore, I ask the new students to enjoy the learning process. In the future, you will also be challenging yourselves to fulfill your duties, set priorities, read papers, and more. It's okay; go through the process and enjoy it with joy. Then, the burden will become lighter, and in one or two years, you will emerge as winners," he concluded.

Also present at the event were the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Dr. Dra. Maria Agustina Kleden, M.Sc; the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Kristomus Boimau, ST., MT; Professor in the field of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Denik S. Krisnayanti, ST., MT; and the Coordinator of the Master's Program in Civil Engineering, Dr. Ir. Remigildus Cornelis, ST., MT, along with several lecturers. (rfl)
