Livening up the 61st Anniversary (Dies Natalist) of Undana, the Committee Holds Various Sports Tournaments.

KUPANG - In the spirit of celebrating the 61st Anniversary (Dies Natalist) of Nusa Cendana University (Undana) on September 1st, several sports tournaments are once again being organized by the committee. As the host for this year's celebration, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) is hosting 5 (five) tournaments, namely Futsal, Badminton, Volleyball, Table Tennis, and Tug of War. Participants in these competitions are not only faculty and staff members, but also students who are joining in to celebrate Undana's anniversary this year.

"The involvement of students is highly prioritized in the competitions to celebrate the 61st Dies Natalist of Undana, as students are the main stakeholders of Undana and the future generations of our nation," said Undana's Rector, Prof. Dr. drh. Maxs U. E. Sanam, M.Sc, when officially opening the Volleyball tournament at the main field of FKIP Undana on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023.

According to Undana's Rector, the primary focus in a competition should be sportsmanship. "Appreciation is not always measured by money,, everyone's focus is usually on becoming a champion, but what matters most is how to be a winner. An athlete's character is reflected in their sportsmanship, and they humbly acknowledge their opponent's greatness," emphasized Prof. Maxs.

He also mentioned that Undana's mission is not only to produce graduates with high GPAs, but also to produce graduates who complete their studies in a timely manner, within 7 semesters. "Moreover, what is most important is that they should graduate in a healthy and happy state, without any pressure or intimidation from fellow students, staff, or even professors and the Rector," he expressed.

The Chairman of the Committee for the 61st Anniversary of Undana, Dr. Jakobis J. Messakh, M.Si, expressed that the tournaments are designed with a simple concept but the results are sure to bring happiness. He explained that the Badminton tournament started on the 14th and will conclude on the 20th of August at the Old BAAK Hall of Undana. Futsal will be held from the 14th to the 18th of August, Volleyball from the 14th to the 22nd of August, Table Tennis from the 15th to the 22nd of August, and Tug of War will take place on the 17th of August at the Undana Parade Ground. The prizes to be awarded will include certificates, trophies, and cash rewards.

For your information, during the opening of the Volleyball tournament, Undana's Rector, Prof. Maxs, was accompanied by the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Annytha I. R. Detha, M.Si, and the Vice Rector II for General Administration and Finance, Dr. Drs. Paul G. Tamelan, M.Si, Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Sipri Suban Garak, M.Si, Dean of FKIP, Dr. Malkisedek Taneo, M.Si, along with the Vice Deans.
