Responding to global demands, Undana has sent five students to Germany and the Philippines

KUPANG - In order to respond to global demands and provide the best services to students, as a Public University (PTN) that consistently upholds its reputation as a "Global-Oriented University," Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana) has once again sent 5 (five) students to participate in prestigious international programs in Germany and the Philippines.

Those students, including Junita Christi Soewongsono from the Mathematics Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FST), who will be participating in a 10th th Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2023 in Germany from September 24th to 29th. Furthermore, students from the English Language program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) named Piela Banlamarto Ansgar Djahimo and Maryo Felixtho Kasse Putra, as well as students from the Mathematics Study Program at FKIP named Charis Febrian Djami and Valleria Fillia Parera, who will be participating in the "SEA-Teacher" program at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in the Philippines from September 24th to October 20th, 2023.

The two international programs will offer invaluable learning and cultural experiences for Undana students. In the "10th Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2023" program in Germany, Undana student will join leading thinkers in the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science in an interdisciplinary exchange. This program provides participants with the opportunity to connect with academic pioneers and gain insights from the laurates renowned leaders and laureates, learning about their remarkable achievements in their respective fields. On the other hand, the "SEA-Teacher" program in the Philippines offers Undana students a valuable opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of education.

The five students were sent off during the event and were attended by university officials and faculty members, including: Dr. Paul G. Tamelan, M.Si, Vice Rector II for General Administration and Finance, Dr. Siprianus Suban Garak, M.Sc, Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Jefri S. Bale, ST., M.Eng, Vice Rector IV for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, Prof. Philipi de Rozari, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FST), Dr. Malkisedek Taneo, M.Si, Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), along with other Undana faculty members. This farewell ceremony took place at the 3rd-floor Auditorium of the Undana Rectorate on September 21st, 2023.

The student form Mathematics Department, FST, Junita Christin Soewongsono, took a photo together with the Undana leaders and IRO staff during the send-off event to Germany.

Undana's Vice Rector II, Dr. Paul, stated in his address that participating in both of these activities is a source of happiness and pride. Therefore, he hopes that the students can share their experiences and make a positive impact on other students at Undana.

He explained that in addition to focusing on academic development, both of these programs also provide opportunities for students to understand the culture, society, and technology in their destination countries. "This will help Undana students build important cross-cultural and technological skills in an increasingly interconnected world," he added.

Undana's Vice Rector III, Dr. Sipri, in his address, conveyed a message to the departing students to maintain the institution's good reputation and to prioritize harmony and health while participating in these programs. He also encouraged the students to always strive for excellence and give their best. Dr. Sipri expressed hope that the students participating in both programs would also take the opportunity to introduce Indonesian culture, especially that of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), through traditional attire.

Meanwhile, Undana's Vice Rector IV, Prof. Jefri Bale, emphasized that sending Undana students abroad is a very important endeavor and a tangible demonstration of Undana's commitment to serving its primary stakeholders, the students. "The send-off of these students is also part of Undana's commitment to providing the best learning experiences for its students. It is also hoped that upon their return, they can bring back impact and benefits and utilize social media to share their experiences there," Prof. Jefri remarked.

"Undana hopes that the students participating in these international programs will return with deeper knowledge, broader perspectives, and enhanced skills, which will aid them in achieving success in the future. These programs also serve as tangible evidence that Undana is increasingly active in creating international opportunities for its students and strengthening its reputation as a globally recognized university," he concluded.

It is worth noting that two other Undana students are also awaiting their turn to participate in both of these programs in the upcoming month of October (Undana's Internship Students in Communication Studies/rfl).
