KUPANG - In commemoration of the 61st anniversary of Nusa Cendana University (Undana) and in a bid to support its excellence and prosperity, the Undana Women's Association (DWP) organized a social service event as a manifestation of their care and empathy towards the surrounding community.
With the theme "Together with DWP Undana, Showing Empathy Towards Undana's Excellence and Prosperity," this charity event took place on September 8-9, 2023. The assistance provided was directed towards civil servants in groups 1 and 2, as well as contract workers within the Undana community. Additionally, aid was extended to orphanages, families of waste pickers at the Alak Waste Disposal Site, and waste collectors in the city of Kupang. The types of assistance included basic food supplies, KUB chickens, wearable clothing, and free healthcare services provided by a team of doctors affiliated with Undana-health.
This event was sponsored by PT. Kalbe Farma, PT. Charoen Pokphand, BPR Christa Jaya, and individual contributors, and it had a positive impact on vulnerable groups affected by inflation and El Niño conditions. These groups include pregnant women, toddlers, as well as laborers and manual workers.
Nusa Cendana University's Rector, Prof. Dr. drh. Maxs U. E. Sanam, M.Sc, expressed his appreciation for the activities carried out by DWP Undana. He extended his gratitude to DWP Undana for organizing the event. Prof. Maxs also encouraged the recipients not to assess DWP Undana's offerings solely based on material items but to accept the fraternity and compassion conveyed through this activity.

The Chairwoman of DWP Undana, Mrs. Hembang Murni Pancasilawati Sanam, mentioned in her address to the recipients that the charity event was a manifestation of their concern and social responsibility towards the community.
"Through this activity, we hope to instill values of empathy, care, teamwork, and responsibility, as well as strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, both internally among the Undana family and with the wider community," she stated in front of the DWP Undana Office on Friday, September 8th, 2023.
Mrs. Hembang expressed that what was handed over was entrusted by donors, both from within the Undana community and from friends of DWP Undana who are outside Undana, such as our partners/sponsors: Kalbe, Charoen Pokphand Foundation Indonesia, and BPR Christa Jaya.
Separately, Sister Yolanda, representing the children of Panti Bhakti Luhur, expressed her gratitude for the care shown by DWP Undana. "It is a blessing for us that on our 60th anniversary, we receive this kindness from DWP Undana. For your information, this charity event took place over two days. On the first day, Friday, September 8th, 2023, DWP Undana distributed food packages to 35 beneficiaries, including cleaning staff and drivers within the Undana community, at the DWP Undana Secretariat. They also handed out food packages and wearable clothing to the residents of the Bhakti Luhur Orphanage (Susteran Alma) in Sikumana Village. On the second day, Saturday, September 9th, 2023, charity activities included the distribution of 50 food packages to the communities living near the Waste Disposal Site (TPA) in the Alak District, as well as providing free health check-ups to the garbage truck drivers.
This activity received a positive response from the recipients. The children of the Bhakti Luhur Orphanage and the residents of Susteran Alma in Sikumana Village were enthusiastic and joyful in welcoming the visit from DWP Undana. (*/rfl)
