KUPANG - Professor Dr. drh. Maxs U. E. Sanam, M.Sc, the Rector of Nusa Cendana University (Undana), served as the designated representative of academic leaders in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, was honored with the invitation to deliver an address at the Graduation Ceremony for Postgraduate, Bachelor's, and Diploma programs at the Open University (UT) in Kupang. The event took place on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Harper Hotel.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In front of 638 UT Kupang graduates, Undana's Rector, Professor Maxs Sanam, emphasized that universities, whether private or public, are not competitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is because, according to the Professor of Microbiology and Parasitology, all universities share the same responsibility of nurturing and developing excellent and advanced human resources (SDM) in Indonesia, particularly in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He explained that currently, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) for the NTT Province stands at 32.48 percent. This means it represents the result of the proportion or number of students at a particular educational level, regardless of their age, divided by those who should be at that educational level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Maxs Sanam revealed that the presence of UT Kupang has contributed to the increase in the Gross Enrollment Ratio (APK) in NTT, alongside Undana and several other universities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Undoubtedly, Undana cannot act alone in improving the Gross Enrollment Ratio (APK) in NTT. The presence of UT certainly aids the NTT Government in reaching those who have not yet had access to professional education, ensuring that people no longer question Undana's presence here but rather receive the services they need,\" expressed the Undana Rector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Blended Learning<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undana's Rector also appreciated UT for implementing blended learning teaching method.<\/em>Conversely, since the onset of the 2020 pandemic, several universities have faced challenges in conducting blended learning teaching method.<\/em> \u2013<\/em> a hybrid method of offline and online learning \u2013<\/em> however, this was not the case for UT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"However, Open University remained unperturbed, given their prior adaptability to the situation. This serves as a valuable lesson, highlighting that with dedication to learning and diligent efforts, we can not only endure but also progress toward a more favorable trajectory,\" Professor Maxs Sanam emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rector even mentioned that Undana is currently utilizing the Promise application, a procurement application developed by UT. \"We are immensely grateful to UT for their assistance with the Promise application. With this application, we can efficiently and punctually handle procurement of goods and services,\" expressed the Undana Rector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his concluding remarks, Professor Maxs Sanam advised the graduates to consider their graduation as not the final destination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"If we cannot apply our skills and competencies for the benefit of society, our nation, and our country, then the degrees we hold have no real significance. Let us continue learning and honing our competencies to make ongoing contributions to society, our nation, and our country,\" concluded the Undana Rector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D, the Rector of the Open University of Indonesia, expressed his hope in his address that the 638 UT graduates who have received their Bachelor's, Postgraduate, or Diploma degrees will return to their respective regions to provide genuine service and contribute to the development of their communities and residential areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Hopefully, they can play a larger role and make greater contributions to development activities in the fields of education, health, and more,\" Professor Ojat Darojat requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Transformation of Public and State-Owned Universities (PTN-BH)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ojat Darojat explained that UT has undergone a transformation into a Public Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH). Therefore, he hopes that this progress will attract public interest in enrolling at UT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the Director of UT Kupang, Dr. Ajat Sudrajat, hopes that the knowledge acquired by the alumni will be effectively used and implemented for their own benefit, the community, and the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The knowledge acquired should be applied effectively within the community, and you should uphold the good reputation of our alma mater, UT, both in society and its surroundings,\" he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In attendance at the event were the Acting Governor of NTT, represented by the Head of the NTT Department of Education and Culture, Linus Lusi, S.Pd., M.Pd, the former Rector of UT Kupang, Drs.
