KUPANG \u2013 <\/strong>The Faculty ofMedicine and Veterinary Medicine (FKKH) at Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana) hosted an international seminar under the theme \"From One Health Research to Clinical Practice and Innovation.\" The seminar aimed to explore the transition of One Health research into clinical practice and innovation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international seminar was formally inaugurated by Undana's Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. drh. Annytha I. R. Detha, M.Si, at Aston Hotel in Kupang on Saturday, August 5th, 2023.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The international seminar featured 3 foreign keynote speakers: Dr. Akatsuki Saito, D.V.M, Ph.D from Miyazaki University, Japan; Dr. Aaron Gaekwad from Flinders University\/FOHG, Australia; and Dr. Saengduen Moonsom, BSc, MSc, Ph.D from Mahidol University, Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the seminar also featured 3 domestic speakers: Prof. Dr. Dwikora Novembri Utomo, Sp.OT(K) Hip and Knee from Universitas Airlangga Indonesia; Dr. dr. Christina Olly Lada, M.Gizi; dr\u00a0\u00a0 Sidarta Sagita, <\/em>dr. Su Djie To Rante, M.Biomed, Sp.OT (K) Hip&Knee\u00a0 (Universitas Nusa Cendana).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her address on behalf of the Undana's Rector, Vice Rector I of Undana, Prof. Annytha, expressed her appreciation for the organization of the international seminar. She emphasized that the seminar serves as a crucial component of scholarly endeavors, aimed at disseminating knowledge and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"As an academic institution, we support this seminar as Undana will mark its 61st anniversary on September 1st this year,\" she stated. The Professor in the field of Veterinary Public Health also expressed her hope that the research outcomes will eventually yield positive impacts or benefits for the society in NTT, particularly in Kupang city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Echoing the sentiments of the Acting Mayor of Kupang, Vice Rector I of Undana also expressed support for the collaborative efforts undertaken by Undana with the local government, particularly with the Kupang City Government. \"What was conveyed by the Mayor has an impact and collaborative work, even though what we do is international or global in nature, it must be tangible. Specifically, it must have an impact or be beneficial for our generation,\" she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Prof. Annytha expressed her hope that the international seminar would generate new ideas from existing research, as well as foster collaboration and innovation to advance human health and well-being within the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting Mayor of Kupang, George Hadjoh, SH, in his address, appreciated Undana for organizing an international seminar in Kupang. This indicates that Kupang is a safe and conducive location for international events and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also encouraged cooperation and collaboration between Undana and the Kupang City Government in promoting the welfare of the community. \"We greatly need the insights and dedication of Undana's academics to assist the government and the people of Kupang City in advancing the community's well-being,\" he expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the issues that needs to be addressed together is the high prevalence of stunting, despite this, the collaboration between both parties has led to a decrease in the stunting rate in Kupang City over the past few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dean of FKKH Undana, Dr. dr. Christina Olly Lada, M.Gizi, stated that the purpose of organizing the international seminar is to disseminate research findings that can address clinical issues in patients and the general community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"In this international seminar, we share experiences, knowledge, and applied technologies obtained from research outcomes. The purpose is not only to address clinical issues in patients but also to address community health, and it is based on the concept of One Health,\" she explained. Dr. Christina added, \"This means there's an integration between various fields of study and professional groups working together to tackle these problems.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Dr. Su Djie To Rante, Sp.OT(K), as the Chairperson of the event committee, explained that the topics addressed in the international seminar combine knowledge from veterinary medicine, human medicine, and the environment. The aim is to encourage students to collaborate across these three domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"So, health is not necessarily solely influenced by humans, but factors from animals or the environment can also play a role. We need to work together to protect humans, the environment, and animals,\" he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Dr. Su expressed his hope that the international seminar would have a positive impact on all participants and emphasized the importance of continuous learning for all doctors, both in academic settings and in hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We, from Undana, hope that participants can learn both on campus and in hospitals. All doctors should constantly enhance their knowledge and never feel satisfied, but instead, keep learning continuously. Learning must never cease,\" he affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's worth noting that present during the seminar was Undana's Rector, Prof. Dr. drh. Maxs U. E. Sanam, M.Sc, who joined after participating in a live interview at Radio Tirilolok Kupang station. (rfl)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
