KUPANG – Feeling compelled to complete a number of activities related to education, teaching and community service (tri dharma) of Higher Education, Dr. Drs. Malkisedek Taneo, M.Sc has once again registered himself as a candidate for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Teaching Training and Education (FKIP).
"After experiencing the challenges posed by the pandemic during my initial leadership, I feel compelled to accomplish various aspects related to the tri dharma, which are the essence and pillars of our university. We are aware that , in the beginning of my current leadership, the pandemic has disrupted the tri dharma activities at FKIP and has also affected the achievement of performance targets," said Dr. Drs. Malkisedek Taneo, M.Si, the Dean of FKIP Undana, after registering himself as a Candidate for the Dean of FKIP on Friday (July 21, 2023) afternoon at the FKIP Dean's Office building.
However, Dr. Malkisedek clarified that despite the challenges, FKIP managed to achieve a performance score of above 90 percent in the performance targets set by the Ministry of Education, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemendikbudristek). He attributed this remarkable achievement to the collaborative efforts of the university's management, deans, program study coordinators, and faculty members. Considering that FKIP is a significant faculty at Undana, he expressed pride in the outstanding performance.
He further explained that currently, the Ministry of Education, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemendikbudristek) has implemented a Performance Agreement (PK) with the Undana Rector. This PK is then cascaded down to the deans, program study coordinators, and ultimately to every faculty member, including those in FKIP. The PK serves as a framework for setting performance targets and evaluating the achievements of each individual and unit within the university, ensuring a coordinated and systematic approach to performance management.
Dr. Melki further explained that the performance contract is structured with 14 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), comprising 8 IKUs from the Ministry of Education and Culture, 2 IKUs from the Ministry of Finance, and 4 IKUs specific to Undana, known as additional IKUs. These 14 KPIs are detailed in 37 Activity Performance Indicators (IKK), guiding the faculty's efforts to reach the 100 percent target. The comprehensive set of indicators allows for monitoring and evaluating the faculty's progress and achievements in various aspects of its academic and service activities.
The lecturer in History expressed his desire to foster a sense of FKIP as a shared home for students, staff, lecturers, and alumni. He shared his longing for a collaborative and unified effort from all components of Undana, urging them to join hands, work together, and collaborate in building FKIP and, ultimately, Undana as a whole. This unity and collaboration among the university's stakeholders are essential for achieving the shared goals and advancing the institution's overall development.
To achieve the tri dharma (three main functions of higher education institutions) goals, Dr. Malki emphasized the importance of garnering attention and involvement from all components within FKIP. He firmly believed that the social capital within FKIP, combined with the support of external partners, would enable them to build a stronger and better FKIP. This collaborative effort and partnership are essential for enhancing the quality of education, research, and community service provided by FKIP and further advancing its reputation as an academic institution.
In addition to internal collaborations, Dr. Malki also expressed their willingness to engage with external partners, such as the Provincial, District, and City Education and Culture Offices in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). By establishing partnerships with these entities, FKIP aims to strengthen its ties with the local community and government institutions, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship that will contribute to the improvement of education and cultural development in the region.
The Dean of FKIP also expressed pride that FKIP Undana has consistently received support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to continue providing quality education to prepare professional educators and teachers. "So far, we have been trusted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to be a Teacher Education Institution (LPTK) that is ready to provide professional teacher candidates. This sets us apart from other faculties at Undana, especially as a large faculty. It requires the collaboration and cooperation of all components to build FKIP," he said.
During that occasion, Dr. Malki expressed his gratitude to the Rector of Undana, Prof. Dr. drh. Maxs U. E. Sanam, M.Sc, and the entire academic community of Undana, who have supported him throughout his more than 3 years as the Dean of FKIP.
"My hope is to continue receiving support from the academic community of Undana, represented by the FKIP senate and the Rector of Undana, because after all, the Rector holds 35 percent of the total votes in the FKIP senate," he stated.
He added that there are several lecturers in FKIP who have the potential to run for the position of Dean of FKIP. Therefore, according to Dr. Malki, no one should limit the rights of lecturers to register and participate in the candidacy for the Dean of FKIP.
Meanwhile, Dr. Edi Suprapto, M.P., as the chairman of the Dean of FKIP election committee, stated that as of Friday, July 21st, the committee has only received registrations from 2 candidates, namely Dr. Malkisedek Taneo, M.Si, and Prof. Dr. Yantus Neolaka, M.Pd. He mentioned that during the registration process, the committee carefully examined several documents, including the registration format, the latest civil servant appointment decree, work performance report, and the wealth report (LHKPN or KHKSN) along with evidence sent to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He hoped that there would be additional candidates registering on Monday to meet the minimum requirement of 3 candidates. Otherwise, the registration period will remain open. (rfl)
